Guest Spending at Local Businesses :

What our Guests Say:

"To a couple, originally from Austin, who had never been to Pittsburgh before, Millvale felt like home. We had come to Pittsburgh to work on the Showtime TV show in January, but didn’t move to Millvale until May. I only wish we would have moved there sooner. The small community vibe and local businesses are a welcome escape from a busy lifestyle. Local places like Strange Roots and Grist House were the perfect place us and our two dogs. Not to mention trendy places like Tupelo Honey Teas ( now Abeille Voyante Tea Co) , Lincoln's P&G Diner and Attic Record Store were also lovely surprises.Every day, we felt welcome, and in such a small slice of the city of Pittsburgh, we found everything we needed to have a good time.Quickly Millvale not only became the hot spot for us, but for our crew from out of town. They all came over from various parts of the city to enjoy a weekend at the breweries, axe throwing or the many events such as Millvale Pride and the Millvale Music Festival. We couldn’t get enough.
We already miss Millvale and truly hope we can return some day.”

Behind the Scene of Blue Coop:

Blue Coop is a father-daughter business started in 2018 by Heather Mallak and Frank Mallak, Sr. Earlier generations settled in McKeesport to work in the coal mines and then the steel mills. While Frank grew up in McKeesport, his career as a microbiologist found him working and raising his family in the Philadelphia area, Ohio, and then back to the suburbs of Pittsburgh. Heather moved into the Southside of the City at age 18 and has been contributing to the creative culture and community for decades as a multi-faceted designer and community advocate. Their collective interest in collaborating with architects, contractors, and craftsmen talent came from a 2011 personal project--adding a shipping container as a permanent addition to Heather’s turn-of-the-century house in Lawrenceville.
Our office is located at Riverside Center for Innovation, a space promoting minority and women-owned businesses.
Blue Coop recently launched the initiative Stay Good through an Innovation Works program called Test Kitchen.
